She Stands Up for What She Wants

Some folks believe raccoons are the smartest critters in the wild.  They can go through your kitty door, open your cabinet, get your cereal out of the box, take the lids off your tupperware, and get back out before you know it.  I am not making this up.

But the deer in our neighborhood are catching up.

Due to the drought this summer I think the deer are getting more creative in finding food and water. I hope this summer is not as bad for them.

The critters are not to be denied when they're hungry. Around us, the raccoons tend to congregate in the creek bottoms, so they're not a problem. The deer, however, are a nightmare, trashing all the vegetation in the front of my house.

Cheers.

Haha...they are a smart bunch.

The raccoons have torn down our feeders, repeatedly. Even tore up a couple.
We're going to have to come up with something. We love to feed the birds.

We already had the feeders up high, because of the deer.

The challenge of loving and living with wildlife.

My husband repeatedly tells me how smart deer are, as he comes in from another fruitless hunt . . .

Raise the feeder a little and see if the deer learns to bring something to stand on.
